Cookie Policy

Unnecessary Engineering

Last updated: August 1, 2026

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Unnecessary Engineering uses cookies on this website, and how you can control them.

2. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small files stored on your device that allow websites to remember information and provide functionality.

3. Essential Cookies (always active)

This website uses one essential technical cookie, which cannot be disabled because the site cannot function without it:

  • An encrypted session cookie for authentication and login functionality

4. Optional Cookies (require your consent)

The homepage embeds a live Instagram post and a live X (Twitter) post as social proof. These embeds are provided directly by Instagram/Meta and X and set their own third-party cookies, which we do not control and which are governed by those platforms' respective privacy and cookie policies.

Because these cookies are not strictly necessary, the embeds do notload automatically. On your first visit, a banner asks whether you want to accept them; if you decline (or don't choose), a static placeholder with a direct link to the original post is shown instead. You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer of every page.

5. Payment Services

Checkout happens entirely on the server: this website never loads Stripe's JavaScript or sets any Stripe cookie in your browser. Once you're redirected to Stripe's own hosted payment page to complete a purchase, Stripe may set its own cookies there, governed by Stripe's privacy policy.

6. Cookies We Do Not Use

  • No advertising cookies of our own
  • No profiling cookies of our own
  • No marketing tracking cookies of our own

This does not extend to the optional Instagram/X embeds described above, which are operated entirely by those third parties once you consent to them.

7. Third Party Services

  • Stripe — payment processing (no cookies set on this site)
  • Google Drive — digital file delivery
  • Supabase — database hosting
  • Vercel — website hosting
  • Instagram / Meta and X (Twitter) — optional embedded content, cookies only with your consent

8. Managing Cookies

Use the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer of any page to change your choice about the optional embeds at any time. You can also manage or delete cookies through your browser settings, though disabling the essential session cookie will prevent you from logging in.
